Collins College of Business honors outstanding alumni and students

The Collins College of Business honored three alumni and four graduating seniors during its annual Honors and Awards Banquet April 7 at TU’s Allen Chapman Student Union. Kala Sharp (BSBA ’99), vice president, controller, natural gas at ONEOK Partners, was named the 2017 Outstanding Alumna and Don P. Quint, Jr. (BS ’78), principal and founder of Don P. Quint & Associates, as the 2017 Outstanding Alumnus. Ashley Lewis Jackson (BSBA ’08), customer success integration manager at GE Digital, was named the 2017 Fast Track Alumna.

Kala O. Sharp

Kala O. Sharp
Kala Sharp is vice president, controller, natural gas, of ONEOK Partners. She is responsible for accounting and reporting for the natural gas gathering and processing and natural gas pipelines segments.

Sharp joined ONEOK in 2003 as an accountant and has since held positions of increasing responsibility. In 2008, she was named director, accounting, SEC reporting, for ONEOK and ONEOK Partners. Most recently, she served as assistant controller, natural gas. She previously held accounting and auditing positions at Vintage Petroleum and Deloitte.

Sharp is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Oklahoma Society of CPAs and is a certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant. She is currently chairing the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sharp is a board member of the TU’s Friends of Finance and Conference of Accountants, a board member and past president of the Child Abuse Network in Tulsa and a past treasurer of the Margaret Hudson Program. She is a member of Leadership Tulsa – Class 52 and serves in an advisory capacity for the ONEOK Women’s Resource Group.

A native of Allen, Oklahoma, Sharp graduated magna cum laude from TU, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in accounting and finance in 1999.

Don P. Quint, Jr.
Don Quint is the principal and founder of Don P. Quint & Associates, a Registered Investment Adviser. Quint established his practice in 1978 upon his graduation from The University of Tulsa. Since graduation he has completed his Chartered Life Underwriter designation along with his Chartered Financial Consultant designation.

Quint is married with two children and is active within Tulsa including having served on the board of Monte Cassino, the University of Tulsa Alumni Association, Hurricane Club and Friends of Finance.

Ashley Lewis Jackson

Ashley Jackson joined General Electric (GE) in 2008 as a financial management program (FMP) intern with GE Real Estate. In 2009, she joined the Capital FMP program with rotations across Real Estate, Retail Finance, Aviation Services, and Rail Services. While there, she held Controllership, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Pricing positions. She then joined the corporate audit staff (CAS) for two years, focused primarily on industrial businesses. Her financial and compliance reviews spanned Aviation Systems, Transportation, Oil & Gas, and Capital Americas. Upon completion of CAS, she spent three and half years with Oil & Gas as the North America Commercial Finance Manager for Turbomachinery Solutions and Downstream Technology Solutions. In January 2017, Jackson was promoted to customer success integration manager at GE Digital.

Jackson graduated from TU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in accounting and business law management with a certificate in African American studies and a minor in sociology. She currently resides in Cypress, Texas, with her husband, DaMon, and daughter, Riley.

Four graduating seniors will receive the 2017 David R. Lawson Outstanding Senior award in recognition of their leadership and accomplishments while students at TU: Amanda Calhoun, energy management; Paul Moses, accounting and finance; Claire Thompson, accounting, economics and finance; and Francisco Yanez, finance and management.

Faculty and staff award recipients, Beta Gamma Sigma initiates, honors graduates, certificate of merit recipients and college and department award recipients also were honored.
