The Collins College of Business will host Professor George B. Cunningham as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series March 7, 2018. Cunningham will speak on diversity and inclusion in sport, including recent incidents involving diversity issues and athletics on college campuses. The lecture will take place at 5:30 p.m. in Lorton Hall.
Cunningham is a professor of Sport Management at Texas A&M University, where he also serves as the Graduate Ombuds Officer for the university. He serves as the director of the Center for Sport Management Research and Education as well as the Laboratory for Diversity in Sport. Cunningham also holds a faculty affiliate appointment in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program.
He has published more than 190 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, has authored the award-winning book Diversity in Sport Organizations, co-edited the award-winning book Routledge Handbook of Theory in Sport Management and has received funding from a variety of entities to support his research. He is editor-in-chief of Sport Management Review, the journal with the highest impact factor in the field. Cunningham is the former president of both the North American Society for Sport Management and Aggie Allies. He is a member of the National Academy of Kinesiology.
